Optical Lenses, A transparent optical component consist- ing of one or more pieces of optical glass with curved surfac- es(usually spherical) that they serve to converge or diverge the transmitted rays from an object, thus forming a real or virtual image of that object. are used in a wide variety of applications from microscopy to laser processing. Many industries utilize Optical Lenses, including life sciences, imaging, industrial, or defense.
1.Spherical Lens, their two surfaces are parts of the surfaces
of spheres. Each surface can be convex(thin at edge) , concave
(thick at edge), or plano (flat). Combinations of two surfaces,
there are Biconvex, plano-convex, Biconcave, plano-concave,
positive and negative meniscus (convex-concave ). Spherical Lens does not form perfect image,In a Lens, the following parameter are usually used to declare it: diameter(Φ),central thickness(tc),radius(R),edge thickness(te),focal length(f),re- flective index(nd).
2. Compound lenses, a collection of simple lenses of different shapes, made of different materials of index, are used for correction of spherical aberration, Coma, Chromatic aberration, field curvature, barrel and pincushion distortion, and astigmatism.
3. Cylindrical Lens, have surfaces with two different radii of curvature in two orthogonal planes. e.g. astigmatic lens that are used to correct astigmatism in someone’s eye.
Hontec Optics provides these lenses with the material of Optical Glass, BK7,Fused Silica, Germanium, Silica,CaF2 and MgF2 as standard. Other materials lenses are available upon requirement.
